Your surgeon's qualifications are the single most important factor in your safety and results. Here's exactly what to look for.

Board certification in plastic surgery — not general surgery, dermatology, or another field. Specialisation in the specific procedure you're considering. A minimum of 10–15 years of relevant clinical experience. Membership in recognised professional bodies (e.g., ISAPS, EBOPRAS, or Turkish Society of Plastic Surgery).

Beware of clinics where non-specialist doctors perform cosmetic procedures — this is more common than patients realise.

High procedure volume is critical. A surgeon who performs hundreds of rhinoplasties per year will have more refined technique and better outcomes than one who performs dozens. Ask about their specific case volume for your procedure.

A qualified surgeon should be able to show you a portfolio of before-and-after photos from their own patients — not stock images. Look for consistency across multiple cases and results that look natural and proportionate.
